What Is Right For You In Your Menstruation Time? Tampons, Pads or Menstrual Cups

We all as women have serious concerns, especially when it comes to periods time, hygiene and being comfortable with the heavy bleeding hours that one has to go through. Most of us use sanitary napkins, often called pads by a lot of famous brands like Whisper, Stayfree , Sofie etc. I personally use Whisper, XL Wings, it has been the best rescue for me. But most of us are not aware about tampons and menstrual cups. So let’s find out about them.

Sanitary Pads

Sanitary Pads are the most used when it comes to periods. Women prefer pads of various lengths ranging from Regular | L | XL | XXL | XXXL lengths, depending on the flow they have and also the period of the day. Most women go for XL Wings in the night hours , to remain free from the tension of leaks and stains. Also, sanitary napkins must be changed frequently with maximum of 4 hours of usage. Companies claim that you can wear it for the whole day, but it is highly unhygienic, can cause irritation and can also lead to fungal infections. Also some women get rashes with its use and thus also take precaution of wearing a cotton/ cloth layer above the pad. Pads are the most common and preferred solution for periods. But there are few disadvantages and that are you cannot wear it in pools, or under your bikini. Also pads sometimes lead to stains on the clothes.

First let us know what are tampons. Tampons are made of absorbent material and are inserted inside the vagina, during periods as a replacement for the pads. Most women below 41 are found to use tampons. Women use tampons for greater freedom during periods. You can go into a swimming pool, have fun in water, play games and do everything without even feeling the flow. You are also relieved of the tension of stain. But tampons can also lead to irritations and allergic reactions in your vagina and thus some women prefer menstrual cups over tampons. Have a look at how to use the tampons.

Menstrual Cups

Menstrual Cups are of two types : The first is a soft flexible cup that resembles a diaphragm, the second one is a bell shaped cup made of rubber (latex) or silicone that can be reused after thorough cleaning. Both type of cups are used to collect mestrual fluid-rather than absorb it, for disposal afterwards. Menstrual Cups are often used as an alternative to tampons. They can be used for 12 hours and are preferred over tampons by women. Some studies have found that women had to change the cups 2.8 times less frequently than tampons and pads. Also it leaked 0.5 times less. So it is a really good option. Also mestrual cups do not contain any chemicals, fibres or bleaches that can cause irritations, sensitivity or allergic reactions. Also the soft and flexible cups can be worn during intercourse by women and thus is a very good option to go with. Some women find it difficult to use menstrual cups, especially the insertion, but that can be solved by educating them. Also one of the main disadvantage women told was to clean the menstrual cup, but this too can be resloved by using disposable menstraul cups.
